The Ongoing Breakup of The Yankees and NYCFC

Not to start out on a sour note, but about 45% of marriages in the United States end in divorce.

You’re there at the alter, promising support in sickness and in health for as long as you both shall live, and next thing you know you’re in a relationship-ending fight about things like money, your house, or something silly like 5,500 parking spots in the South Bronx. It happens!

Are NYCFC and The Yankees Breaking Up??

Well, break out the twin beads in the master bedroom for NYCFC and the Yankees, because right now it feels like the couple are trying to break up and move on, but they’re stuck living in the same house while they sort out all the legal BS.

But how did we get here? Not long ago, it felt like the two were something of a power couple. Both teams were making deep playoff runs, packing the stadium, taking turns amicably with the field space, and supporting one and other on social media.

But there have been more than a few rough patches recently for the couple. And now, I’m not sure if they are gonna be able to keep this going for much longer.

First of all, NYCFC have been sleeping around with other stadiums. Red Bull Arena, Citi Field, Belson Stadium, Rentschler Field…hell they even had a one night stand on vacation in Los Angelas at Banc of California Stadium!

But why did NYCFC start seeing other people? Well, it’s probably because The Yankees seemed to be getting a little bit controlling in the relationship. They only let NYCFC play on certain days, so everything revolved around The Yankees schedule. And, when NYCFC tried to walk out, The Yankees shut the deal down over those damn parking spots! Sheeeesh, doesn’t exactly sound like a healthy relationship to me…

And, things seem to be getting pretty serious between NYCFC and one of their mistresses, The New York Mets. NYCFC have been staying at their place recently, and there’s certainly some chemistry there. Every time they’ve visited the atmosphere has been electric. And, they’ve even been taking some fashion advice from their new lovers, going over there scandalously dressed in all-Mets colors each time they play.

But now, there’s rumors of NYCFC finally moving out and finding their own place. Initially the signs were that they might move in closer to their new lovers in Queens, but now it seems like they might try to stay a little closer to home with rumors emerging that they may have found a spot near Harlem River Yards. Maybe they’ll just stick around close by until the kids go to college? Hard to tell.

As of now, it seems like The Yankees will take custody of their child, The YES Network, as it's been announced that this will be the last year of NYCFC coverage on YES. It’ll be sad to see them go, but it always felt like The Yankees kid anyway…they even named it after themselves. And, NYCFC have been looking into adoption with an adorable little kid named Apple TV, who will surely go on to do big things.

Nevertheless, it seems like all signs are pointing to a high profile breakup of two of New York’s most talented sports teams. But, I have a feeling they’ll both be okay - perhaps even better separate than they were together.
