At long last, I present to you the NYCFC Kit Bracket champion: ‘Bronx Blue”.

And was it ever truly in doubt? Our current home kit was launched in 2021 to fans who, despite being unaware of the history soon to come in the shirt, took to the look immediately.
I can still picture the club’s promo flicks of homegrown hero, James Sands, standing tall and proud in the South Bronx to announce the shirt to the world. I think at that point, when observing the subtile details and attractive color scheme, many of us knew we’d like the kit. But, I don’t think even the most optimistic of our supporters could predict what this simple blue and white look would come to mean to all of us. It’s now a symbol of our hard earned success.

And, as if the kit wasn’t nice enough, our MLS Cup victory earned us the greatest addition a shirt could ever receive: a star. If it wasn’t yet a perfect kit in 2021, it certainly is now. A glorious reminder to ourselves, and the rest of the league, that we won the whole damn thing. No matter how many chances we may spurn, points we my drop, matches we may lose, playoffs we may miss, or stadiums we may not yet have, we will always have that star.

With that said, if we had won the league in 2019 in our “Racing Stripe” kit, do I think that shirt would’ve won the NYCFC Kit Bracket? Absolutely. But it didn’t, and “Bronx Blue” did. So all hail the new king, the symbol of our growth, and the image of our success: Bronx f***ing Blue. Forever immortalized in MLS Cup history, NYCFC history, and (most importantly) NYCFC Kit Bracket history.
