After our highest voter turnout in NYCFC Kit Bracket history, #1 seed 'Bronx Blue' takes down our #4 seed 'Sophomore Kit' in a tightly contested affair. Our current home kit advances with 57.1% of the vote, and will move on to play the 'Racing Stripe' in the Semi-finals. As always, a huge thanks to those who voted, commented, and re-tweeted!

But now, let's turn our attention back to the away side of the bracket in our last quarterfinal of the tournament.

Today’s showdown is a tale of two of the loudest kits we’ve ever worn, as #1 seed Volt Kit faces off against #4 seed and play-in game winner, Hypnokit. It’s safe to say this has the makings of an absolute classic.

Todays Matchup: Volt Kit vs Hypnokit

Despite this being the 5th matchup of the tournament, today marks the debut of the Volt Kit in competition. This is quite a lot of time off for the favorites, which is something that can occasionally hinder a side - just ask the New England Revolution.

But, I think the Volt Kit has little to worry about. If I were to give this kit a player comparison, I’d say its either Neymar or Mbappe (or Talles Magno). This thing is certainly a fast, mercurial winger with 5-star skills. I think every player on our team gets at least a +5 sprint speed rating in FIFA wearing these.

The Volt Kit features a striking orange look that’s entirely new for NYCFC. Yes, we’ve occasionally seen some orange accents scattered throughout some kits in the past, but a full bodied orange kit through the top, shorts and socks is certainly a statement from the reigning champions.

This is our boldest look since…well…its competitor today: The Hypnokit. After a strong performance in the play-in game, our 2016 away kit will be looking to show that some veteran experience can be valuable in knockout competition.

And not only did this kit comfortably defeat our 2018 “Concrete Jungle” away kit in the end, it seemed to be getting a whole lot of love in the comment sections, drawing comments like, “All hail the Hypnokit” pretty regularly. It certainly has a cult following, a that is exactly the type of support you need to succeed in this competition.
